There’s so much guilt people put on entrepreneurs for either putting time into their business or putting time into other aspects of their lives. People, and tv shows, and media, all try to make us feel like it’s one or the other. If we are doing well in one thing; then we think that we must not be neglecting the other things. In today’s episode of Owning the Edge Podcast, we’re going to be talking about how all the elements of your life are intertwined and how going after your lifestyle goals can actually help you with your business.
The biggest misconception is when people believe that the balance between the elements in your life always has to be equal. They think that if they spend 10 hours at work, they have to spend an equal 10 hours with their family. They feel like they have to cut out other essential elements in their life, like their health or sleep.
It’s not equal. It’s never just said and done.
Balancing the different elements in your life is an ongoing process that gets you closer to your goals.
If one of your goals is to build a deeper connection to your partner or family, then that means that you need to take the time and energy to do that.
If you’re doing an event for your business, you’re going to find that a lot more of your time during that period will be spent on your business. AND THAT’S OK.
All these elements you’re balancing aren’t separated. They’re all together.
If you take the time to care for your health, you’ll realize that you’ll have so much more energy in the other elements of your life. If you take the time to deepen your relationships with your partner, friends, and family, you’ll realize that you’ll feel so much more pumped about the other aspects of your life because you’ll have people to rally beside you!
If I’m building my business, I’m also working on my relationships, health, and all the other aspects I want to include in my life.
We always hear this myth that to have a successful business, we will have to sacrifice other aspects of our life.
But that’s not how it works!
It takes time to build up your business; you can’t just wait and put the rest of your life on hold while you do it.
Figure out how to work in the lifestyle you want into your goals. Stop waiting to travel until you reach your business goals and decide to achieve those goals while traveling.
You’re not sacrificing your business when you have a life; you’re FEEDING it.
The energy that comes from having a real-life is going to be the battery for your business. The thing that truly motivates you will be the combination of every aspect of your life getting to where you want it to be. The real human connections you can be making are what will drive you to do amazing things with your business.
