What would you do with an extra 15 hours back a week in your life? The answer to this question could determine how fast your business can grow. In this episode of Owning the Edge Podcast, we are talking about how to free up some of your time and how to reinvest that time into your business.
I worked for as long as I can remember on an ongoing project that took up hours of my time every day. It wasn’t slowing down as our business grew, and I actually took on more stuff as our business grew and needed more done.
I had to do more things than I was used to doing, and every time we had a new project, there was more for me to do.
The tasks I needed to do easily took up 40 hours a week, and the work to grow the business was about 20 more on top of that.
I was getting burnt out.
I started to think that it would be possible for me to outsource some stuff and hire people to do parts of the business, taking up an insane amount of my time.
We ended up hiring someone that didn’t really work out.
Training them was draining. It took up more time than what we were initially spending, and the quality of the work they were doing just wasn’t up to par. When we hired them, we weren’t even clear on what tasks we wanted them to do.
It was an absolute mess.
But we learned. We grew a little bit and were more sure of what tasks we needed to have covered. We had built more processes of how to do the work and how to do quality control.
Once we had it together, we found an absolutely incredible VA, and it blew us away.
I remember the day that I woke up and suddenly had FREE TIME. I was so confused. I had no idea what to do with myself. It was a fantastic feeling.
So, we successfully hired an amazing VA. She freed up so much more time in my day-to-day life.
But what do I do with all this extra time?
If you take those 15 hours back and you take a break, YOU PROBABLY NEEDED IT.
Once you’re done with your break, look at what you really want in your business.
Once you hit this point, you are probably asking:
If you can take those freed up hours and figure out how to make more money than it cost you to hire that person, you can hire another person.
Have your new hires replace things you are currently doing and get that time back to reinvest it immediately into what it takes to make more money for your business.
Down the line, you will narrow your tasks down to only things that you LOVE to do that are crazy dollar productive.
